I’m writing to urge you to release the funds in the state budget for the Abortion Care Clinical Training Program. The Maryland General Assembly overwhelmingly authorized the Abortion Care Access Act this year and the Clinical Training Program is a key part of the program, increasing the diversity and number of providers we need to ensure that women can obtain safe abortion services.

Threatening to withhold the $3.5 million, which you could release today, puts women at risk!
Women have the right to make their own decisions about their reproductive health and their pregnancies. Abortion care is healthcare. I am one of a majority of Marylanders who do not want to see you use your power to try and undermine the protection of abortion rights in our state. Your decision to cut off funds will cut off women from getting basic healthcare services they need. Do the right thing: recognize that Maryland women and providers must have options to get or provide safe abortions. Release the funds immediately.
